Olga Ines Carnero      Olga is a flamenco dancer originally from Malaga, Andalusia, and South of Spain. In Spain, she began dancing at the age of just four, and five years after she moved to Venezuela where she continued dancing through her entire childhood. At the age of thirteen, she became a flamenco instructor working at Veronica Gomez’s academy and at the High School “San Gabriel Arcangel” as well. At the age of fifteen she became an instructor at the “Flamenco School”, Carabobo State, and in 2005 she accepted the position as Director of the Flamenco School at the Hogar Hispano de Valencia (Valencia Hispanic Club). During her time at this school, the Hispanic club was awarded as one of the most prestigious Flamenco academies in Carabobo,Venezuela.. Olga has been dancing with different groups for almost 10 years, performing different flamenco styles and rhythms (Palos) as alegrias, Bulerias, Guajiras, Colombianas, Solea, Seguiriya, etc, both as a solo dancer and as part of a choreographed group. Throught the years Olga has been teaching within different Palos the use of the castanets, Manton (large shawl), fan, garrote and Bata de cola (the long train on a Flamenco dress) Olga is passionate about dancing and at the present, she continues her career in Melbourne. Beginners Class (Every Wednesday 6:30pm – 7:30pm) This class is directed to people who have never danced before or have just learned Sevillanas. It will involve: introduction to flamenco rhythms, basic body posture and movement techniques, hands and harmony of the body, footwork. Tangos and Sevillanas will be taught in this class, and a choreography which includes the use of all the techniques previous learned. You will need any shoes with sturdy heel and comfortable clothing. Fee: $15 per hour Workshop: Alegrias with Manton intermediate level (8 hours) Please call for starting dates. This workshop is designed for those who have been dancing flamenco regularly and should have basic flamenco technique, they may possible have danced tangos, Bulerias or Alegrias. The workshop will involves choreography with Manton (Spanish Shawl), which develop techniques and upper body coordination with the use of the Spanish and It will upgrade previous knowledge for Alegrias. You will need to bring your own shawl (large shawl, preferably with fringes) Fee: $120 per workshop Drop-in: $25 per hour RSVP is highly recommended Private lessons by appointment only
